My Clinical Background and Experience
I went to San Diego State University and graduated 2000 with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and an emphasis in Social Problems. I worked for a couple of years in the field and decided to pursue my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy. I graduated from Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2004.
Much of my experience has been working with adolescents and families in a residential treatment center as well as on an outpatient basis. I also have experience working at a community health clinic in San Pedro as well as a mental health agency where I worked with diverse groups of children, adolescents, and adults. I enjoy mentoring and educating others and am currently an adjunct Psychology Professor at Saddleback Community College.
I provide individual therapy for a variety of issues such as: depression, anxiety, adult children of emotionally distant parents, loss of a beloved pet, grief, trauma(PTSD &Complex PTSD) and relationship issues.
I have specialized training in working with members of the military and first responders.
I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is one that needs safety and trust in order to help the client work through issues in a caring and compassionate environment.
Although eclectic in my training, I utilize a trauma informed approach. I am certified in both EMDR and Brain Spotting.
I am in network with Cigna, United Health Care, and Tricare. My private pay rate is $165 per session.
